We talked to a student with little cooking experience. This young lady on the picture above attended the class together with her whole family. Look at her Pad Thai, it was well presented. With her consent, we sampled the noodle and we have to admit that the taste is better than many of those served in other local Thai restaurants. We tried her mom’s portion too. The taste was somewhat spicy but both are good.
Having learned the basic skills of cooking Thai food, to duplicate the taste when you are back to your home country, you can purchase the seasoning ingredients that were used in the class.
Phuket Thai Cookery School is located at the east coast of Phuket. The class fee of 2900 baht includes free transportation from most parts of Phuket. Just tell them your hotel name and they will send a driver to pick you up at your hotel in the morning.
Janny: The owner is a lady from the northern part of Thailand. She once worked for Unilever, an Anglo–Dutch multinational company selling consumer goods. As a sales and marketing person, she got a chance to visit a Thai cookery school in Chiang Mai. When she came to Phuket where she lived with her partner, she saw the opportunity to build a Thai cooking shool in Phuket because this is the best touristic place in Thailand. And at that time in 2003, there was no private cooking schools in Phuket. Therefore, our cooking school is the first and original one that is not based in hotel.
Janny: As the original cooking school in Phuket, we try to keep up the standard and quality. First of all, our location is fantastic. You get a chance to cook in front of the beach. The fresh local morning market trip is also the highlight of the class because we show and explain the commonly used ingredients in Thai cooking and let our students taste things that they have not known and seen before such as some Thai fruits, Thai sweets and local foods. Thanks to all the positive feedback from our students, we are now ranked as the best activity in Phuket on Tripadvisor.
Janny: Yes. We always tell our customers to feel free to let us know any questions about Thai cooking after they got back to their home country by email.
Janny: Our Chiang Mai cooking school will be under the concept of Thai cooking in the organic farm and would be a totally different idea from Phuket and we would be happy to invite you to inspect our new school after it is in operation.
